Direct vent fireplaces pull outside air for combustion and exhaust through a sealed system — great for air quality and main living areas. Vent-free fireplaces use room air and need no vent, making them extremely efficient heaters, best used for supplemental heat rather than a primary source.

Do electric fireplaces produce real heat? +

Yes. The flames are LED, but most units include a built-in heater (fan-forced or infrared) that can warm 400–1,000 sq ft. You can also run just the flames — no heat — for ambiance in warmer months.

Can I install a gas fireplace without a chimney? +
